AG's priorities should focus on Delaware (Vernon Proctor)
Letter to the editor - Vernon Proctor of Bethel [DE] suggests that our "intrepid Attorney General" has decided to "tilt at windmills" by filing suit against 31 oil companies. Only available precedent is an adverse ruling by a New York federal court. AG Kathleeen Jennings describes as a "straightforward damages suit," but - according to the writer - "liability is questionable and damages are highly speculative." Better to focus on other projects, such as (1) active oversight over Delaware regulatory agencies; (2) ensure vigorous prosecution of persons who engage in random violence and street crime; (3) relieve prison overcrowding by working with legislators to decriminalize minor drug offenses.
