Attacks over assault weapons ban unfounded (David McBride)
Having (1) been attacked in a 6/3/18 column by Matthew Albright, and (2) had his motives impugned by Sen. Greg Lavelle in comments to the press, Sen. McBride fires back. Yes, he assigned the assault weapons ban bill (SB 163) to the Judiciary Committee in his capacity as president pro tempore of the Senate. That was the appropriate committee to handle this bill, in McBride’s opinion, and if his decision won’t help to “muscle” SB 163 through the General Assembly, too bad. But “let me be clear, I support SB 163 and would never play politics on gun violence."
