Bankruptcy measures could slam Delaware (Sen. Chris Coons)
The area around 8th and Market in Wilmington is thriving thanks to DE's bankruptcy business, but Sens. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) and John Cornyn (R-TX) would like to change that by securing passage of a bill that would require states to declare bankruptcy in areas where they have the most assets, never mind where they are incorporated. This would restrict the choices of many companies, injecting "a heavy dose of uncertainty into corporations from California to the Carolinas, and everywhere in between." This would be the biggest blow to the DE economy since the Chrysler plant in Newark was closed, and the current system is working fine. "That's why I'm going to fight this bill with everything I've got, and Senator Carper, [Representative] Blunt Rochester and Governor Carney will do the same."
